If Simone Biles wasn’t already the GOAT in female gymnastics she’s definitely making it known that she’s out here to break stereotypes and records.
On Tuesday, October 8th Simone, 22, won her 21st medal and 15th gold medal in Stuttgart, Germany breaking the record with Russian gymnast Svetlana Khorkina for most overall medals as an individual for an all women’s event.
Don’t you worry male gymnasts she’s coming for y’all too.
The Texas native is only two medals away from beating Belarusian gymnast Vitaly Scherbo who holds the highest record of 23 medals among women or men.
Can we say black girl magic?
“Every year, it feels better and better just because we’re adding to the legacy,” Biles told The Washington Post.
“I feel like I never think of records. I just go out there and do what I came to do, which is compete for the country.”
Simone Biles also came out with an autobiography she co-wrote with journalist Michelle Burford Courage to Soar: A Body in Motion, A Life in Balance.
“I want people to reach for their dreams and there are so many people who have inspired me with their love and encouragement along the way-and I want to pass on that inspiration to readers”, Biles told the Los Angeles Times.
We are honored to live in a time where people of color have the opportunity to make such history and build a legacy.
