Jack Ma has changed the game forever with Alibaba.
If you haven’t heard of Alibaba honestly where have ya been my friend?
Allow me to put you up on game.
Alibaba was founded on April 4, 1999 in Hangzhous, Zhejiang inside of a tiney apartment with 17 other people.
Alibaba specializes in e-commerce, retail, internet and technology.
The leader of this online retail revolution is the flamboyant and eccentric Jack Ma.
Jack Ma helped to revolutionize the e-commerce industry creating platforms like Aliexpress which launched in 2010.
Working with a number of manufacturers that sell their products all over the world Aliexpress is the most visited e-commerce website in Russia and the 10th most popular website in Brazil.
Personally I love and highly recommend Aliexpress.
They have a plethora of stuff from fashion jewelry, furniture, clothing and all the way to tech.
If you really do your research you can end up with high quality product at a fraction of the cost.
Not to mention they TRIPLED Amazon’s total reported sales for 2018.
Dang son. Jack was not playing any games.
So it’s no surprise that I woke up to headlines stating the richest man in China has chosen to step down as the chairman after 20 years with the company.
At the tender age of 55, Jack is considered to be the wealthiest man in China with a net worth of $40 billion.
He’s stepping down from his major leadership role but will take a position in Alibaba’s “partnership,” a body with 38 people that will give him an indirect role in the governance of the group.
What I love about Jack’s story is he started out as an English teacher which, no offense to all the badass teachers out there, probably was not bringing home the bread.
Let’s face it, teacher’s don’t exactly make that much money.
Jack gathered up 17 of his homies and lead an international online revolution that has resulted in one of the biggest cultural e-commerce shifts to date.
So my question is how did Jack lead a now $460 billion company to its success?
Something tells me it has a lot to do with the type of person he is and I think a lot of us could take some notes from Ma.
So what are some of the moments that make Jack Ma so unconventional and probably one of the best boss’s to work for?
Jack Ma Starred in a Kung Fu Movie
That is so BADASS.
Ma was involved in a kung-fu short film taking on eight attackers while utilizing his badass tai chi skills.
I was lowkey blown away when I watched it! The man has got some moves!
Jack Loves Him Some Karaoke
Jack Ma has been known to rock a stage or two.
This man loves to dress up on sang (sang not sing) in front of a crowd in full costume.
He’s best known for his eclectic performance as a hair metal rock star and even did a Michael Jackson impersonation at Alibaba’s 18th anniversary celebration crooning the tune “Can You Feel the Love Tonight?”
Jack Ma Organizes and Oversees Annual Mega Wedding Ceremonies
Witch Alibaba having over 100,000 employees the chances of people find their boo or partner are quite high.
So high in fact that these couples are recognized during the company appointed “Ali Day” where Ma celebrates the union of the employee couples each year.
This annual celebration is so deeply ingrained in the Alibaba culture it has been going on for 15 years.
What’s Next for Alibaba?
It’s no wonder the multi-billion dollar company doesn’t compare to other e-commerce sites like Amazon.
Alibaba literally blows Amazon out of the water.
Since Ma has stepped down what does that mean for the company?
Ma has decided to appoint his successor Daniel Zhang the CEO of the Alibaba Group.
Not sure if Zhang will be making kung-fu films or putting on full rock concerts but he was chosen for a reason.
let’s see what he can do.
